After cataract surgery you will need to be driven home. Plan to have a person that is over 18 years old ready to take you home after cataract surgery and that can be responsible for you during the first few hours. Typically patients are mobile and able to walk as normal immediately after cataract surgery. They are typically warned not to do any lifting after cataract surgery for at least a few weeks, and not to get their operated eye wet immediately after cataract surgery. After cataract surgery you will need to see your surgeon (or a covering doctor) on a regular basis. You will see them the day after cataract surgery, and in the weeks following surgery. At theses visits the doctors will be checking to make sure that the surgery went as planed and that your eye is healing, as it should be. Sometimes, patients begin to experience blurring after cataract surgery. This blurring often appears to be the same as before they had the cataract surgery. This blurring, or opacification, is common and can be treated in a single visit. Always inform your cataract surgery doctor of all observations you make about your vision after cataract surgery. If cataract surgery complications are caught quickly after cataract surgery they are much easier to treat and repair. Always report back to your cataract surgery specialist.

After cataract surgery patients should plan on resting and taking at least a few days off of any physical activity. Patients should not rub their operated eye, or get it wet after cataract surgery for at least 24 hours.
